Our Team
Heidi Walker, Founder & CEO
Heidi Walker, founder of MillECare®, is a Navy veteran, a dedicated nurse, and a leader in maternal-child health with over 30 years of experience. As the former Centering Coordinator at Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune, Heidi managed the largest group prenatal care program in the world for six years, training over 2,000 healthcare providers and clinical staff and supporting thousands of active-duty members and their military families. Heidi later served as a Centering Advisor for the Centering Healthcare Institute (CHI), supporting military sites worldwide.. Through this work, Heidi recognized that the Centering model lacked essential resources to address the unique needs of active-duty service members and their families, particularly around mission readiness and postpartum care. This realization inspired her to create the MillECare® Healthcare Readiness Model, a comprehensive, military-focused approach to prenatal, postpartum, pediatric, and generalized health group care that prioritizes both family wellness and operational readiness. Heidi welcomes the opportunity to discuss this healthcare model further and provide additional insight on how MillECare® can be seamlessly integrated into military treatment facilities. Heidi can be reached at hwalker12@millecare.org.
Ellie Walker, Director of Health Education
Ellie Walker is a dedicated health advocate and educator who will earn her Bachelor of Science in Health Education from Longwood University in May. As a Division I lacrosse athlete, she demonstrated discipline, resilience, and leadership, which she further cultivated as President of Morgan’s Message at Longwood, where she worked to break the stigma surrounding mental health in student-athletes. She was also an active Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) member, using her platform to advocate for student-athlete well-being and engagement.
A Cormier Honors College student, Ellie’s passion for maternal and child health education was evident in her research symposium on maternal mortality rates in the U.S., as well as her focus on NICU families and Type 1 diabetes populations, aiming to improve education and support for families navigating these challenges.
Having spent part of her life near Camp Lejeune, Ellie developed strong ties to the military community, deepening her awareness of the unique healthcare challenges faced by military families. With a strong foundation in health promotion, education, and advocacy, Ellie is committed to driving meaningful change in maternal and child health outcomes through research, education, and policy initiatives.
